January 20, 2010
The Pickens County Board of Education met on January 20, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. at the Pickens County High School Media Center.
The agenda, minutes, and payroll of the December 16th, 2009 Board meeting were approved.
The Board approved a Resolution for the 2009 Pickens County High School Football Team.
The Board approved the Superintendent’s recommendation to change the February 8, 2010, Called Board Meeting Date to February 11, 2010, at 5:30 p.m. at the Central Office.
The Board accepted a resignation from Mr. Rodney Homan, and declared the board seat for District 3 vacant.
The Board approved the Superintendent’s recommendation to have an Open Called Meeting on February 9, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Office to conduct interviews for the District 3 Board vacancy. The vacancy will be advertised on Thursday, January 21, 2010 through Friday, February 5, 2010 at 4:00 p.m.
The Board approved the following personnel recommendations:

Charlotte Bailey Counselor, Aliceville High School,

Robin Tyra Head Football Coach, Aliceville High School,
(resign eff: 2/01/10)
Physical Education Teacher, Aliceville High
School, (resign eff: 6-1-10)
Long-term Substitute:
Morocco Robinson Band Teacher, Aliceville High School (eff: 1-5-10)
The Board approved expulsion for one middle school student for the remainder of the 2009-2010 school year.
The Board denied one high school student zone variance request.
The next Regular Board Meeting will be held February 10, 2010 at the Carrollton Elementary School Media Center at 9:00 a.m.
